Thank you for registering for the Arizona Advocacy Day!
Your voice will help make the cause of STEM education and robotics LOUD to our Arizona Legislators. This calendar invitation has the link to join the training on Microsoft Teams on April 9 from 4:30 to 6:30.
Please see below for some action items and important information:
Action Item - Set up your meetings
Go to ARIZONA FIND MY LEGISLATOR to find out who your state senators and representatives are. You may want to input both the address of the school and addresses of team members. Have your mentor send a message to each member using the template below. Feel free to reach out to all members in the districts your team represents, not just the district that contains your school.
Teams are encouraged to give members many options for meeting times, not just times during our demo. Suggesting times between 9:00 AM and 3 PM might give you the best chance at successfully finding a time that works.
When you have meetings confirmed, please enter them in this form. If you don’t hear back within 2 weeks, please send your message again or call the member’s office.
Training - Thursday, April 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM
Training will occur over Microsoft Teams. This calendar invitation has the link to join the training. Training will cover the fundamentals of effective advocacy, what to expect on the demo day, how to conduct your meeting, and specific “asks.” Please remember that a mentor must be present for training day.
Advocacy Day - Wednesday, May 1, 2024
Plan to arrive by 9AM to set up your display. Bring tables and shade for your team, as well as extension cords, computers, batteries, robots, team display items. Dress professionally for your meetings; depending on the weather, this could be team polos and slacks/skirts or full business attire. Wear sunblock and bring water!
Please come to the following address:
1700 W Washington St, Phoenix, AZ 85007
The official demo time is 10 AM to 1 PM. The CocoNuts will provide pizza and drinks for lunch.
Please don’t hesitate to contact CocoNuts coach, Christine Sapio, with any questions. Thank you for helping us make this event a success.
